Korea Skincare and Nail Polish. Love my Sis!

My lovely Sis got these for me, despite me telling her that I need nothing from Korea. Lovely surprise! I know, I should have got her to get me handful of beauty products from the array of beauty-related shops in Myeongdong. But I am way too well stocked-up on my Laniege and Missha skincare products (another blog post for another day).

 photo DSC03275_zps172361e0.jpg

I was telling her that she should tell some of the skincare products which contains snail slime. Sounds gross, isn't it? But research showed that using skincare products which contains that actually helps to sooth and heal one's skin. Click [HERE] to read more in another blog post which I shared a little more on that. So she did buy it, but in the sheet mask form, from Nature Republic. To be honest, I have always wanted to buy a face moisturizer that contains the snail slime ingredient haha! And ooo... She bought collagen masks from Etude House for me too! Goes well together with my daily 'must-drink-before-I-sleep' collagen drink from DHC! ;)

New glitter nail polish from Sis too!

You know, I am really glad to have such a great Sister. It is not what she buys (She can simply buys me a $500 Karen Millen dress, like what the....!?!) or treats me to, but it is the genuine care and concern that she has for me in every aspect of my life. I am thankful that she is so giving and generous in her concern for me, yet does not expect anything in return. She is the first person I run to when I face tough situations and need an opinion. She is the one who encourages me and gives me moral support when it comes to work. Stays up with me to chat on the phone, or whatsapp... Or 'fly down' to meet me at, when I need a listening ear. And the amazing thing of 'accompanying' me during my business trips when I am all alone through FaceTime or whatsapp... That really chases the loneliness and stress that I face. Not forgetting our coffee/tea sessions on weekends and late nights!
Typing all these actually brings a smile to my face, in fact. :)

It is amazing how we became so close despite all the enmity that we used to have for each other during our teenage years. I guess, as we grew older (and me being more sensible than in the past!), we kinda know that we want to stand by each other and face any tribulations that may come our way. Hence, I agreed fully to what the quote below says, when I happened to chance upon it for the first time a couple of months ago.

Do you have a sister whom you constantly fought with
and competed with while growing up,
but has grown so much closer as both of you grew up?
Just like my Sister and I? :)

Show your appreciation in a couple of months time!
04 August is National Sister's Day. ;)

Sentosa 4D AdventureLand (Journey, Desperados, Extreme Log Ride)

One evening after work last week, I went to Sentosa Island with much excitement as I was going to attend the official launch of the latest attraction on the Island - Sentosa 4d Adventure Land!

#1: How to go to Sentosa?
--> You can drive in, cab in, take a bus in. But for me, I prefer taking the monorail. You can take it from Vivocity. And as I was given complimentary entry and monorail ride, I showed the pass to the staff at the gantry, and off I go, boarding the monorail.

#2: Where's Sentosa 4D AdventureLand?
--> To go to the latest attraction, alight at Imbiah Station. You can see the enormous Merlion statue. And go on, take a photo with it in the background. And no, this Merlion does not have water coming out of its mouth unlike the one located at Merlion Park (facing Marina Bay Sands). But you are able to ascend to a certain height *IN* this Merlion statue and get a bird's eye view of Singapore.

 photo DSC03128__zpsdb69412e.jpg

It was about a 10-minute slow walk from the Imbiah Station to Sentosa 4D AdventureLand, before I reached the event venue.

 photo DSC03178__zps0192508c.jpg

Now... This is what I was invited for...
To watch the Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,
but of a 4D EXPERIENCE!
 photo DSC03154__zps60dfbdd1.jpg

Now, on to my 1st ride: Journey 2 The Mysterious Island!
 photo DSC03180__zps2101fef5.jpg

Watching a Safety Video before going for the Ride
 photo DSC03181__zps6d55dc10.jpg

As you may have known, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,, is actually a movie that stars Dwayne Johnson as  Hank, or more famously known by his nickname 'The Rock'. This ride took me on an adventure to the Mysterious Island. I battled through a thunderstorm and felt water being spurted onto me, the seat that I was sitting on shook every now and then. Out of nowhere, I cold feel insects crawling around and on your feet. But wait a minute... That's just gusts of wind! Alas, my sense of smell was triggered by the sweet and pleasant scent of the grassland and flowers.I really loved that the most.

Oh! There were bubbles towards the end of the show. Try catching it! I would really like to warn you of a particular scene though... Whereby Hank was trying to get electricity/power from a giant electric eel by stabbing a sharp object onto it. There will be a 'stick-like' object jabbing your back. So for old folks and kids, please be careful. But overall, it was a great experience. It was like watching the movie, but a summarized version of it, all within 15 minutes.

 photo DSC03167__zpsb79e0b65.jpg

 photo DSC03169__zpsb42c362a.jpg

Next, I went on the 2nd ride, DESPERADO.
It was a 4D interactive game! I became a cowgirl (san the hat though) and rode on a motion-based saddle and gallop through the town in the animated movie, and shot bandits with the hand-held laser gun!! I succeeded in shooting down about 60-odd bandits, but still not the best shooter. Well, it's good enough! Considering that I only managed a mere 30-odd the last time that I was at Desperados! :p

Me holding a gun, sitting on the saddle.
 photo DSC03187__zpsc6f9df8b.jpg

The final ride that I did was the Extreme Log Ride.

In this 4D Extreme Log Ride, I traveled through the highest mountains, dived into the deepest valleys, being tossed about by whitewater rapids and plunging down from a waterfall... But all these took place while I was seated in a capsule-like simulated seat which can contain 6 people, with the safety belt tightly fastened. For thrill-seekers, you will definitely want to try this out! :p

DBS Marina Regatta 2013 - Dragon Boat and Cosplay

Did you get to read my previous post on the DBS Marina Regatta 2013?
If not check it out by clicking [HERE].
I was there for both days, and boy, the weather was really hot!

I think other than watching the dragon boat races, as well as people-watching (I mean, c'mon... You can't deny that there were gonna be hot bods all around given the frequent and tough training that these rowers have! Heh~).... The next best thing at the event was the photo booth for people to actually have their photos taken by the photographer at the tent, posing with props and all! The photo would be transferred via WiFi to a large touchscreen and you can send the photo taken to your email inbox!

Just like this pic that I took! (^_^)

And I thought it would be nice to take one
with the Marina Bay Sands building in the background. :)

It was certainly exciting to watch so many teams within Singapore and the region competing among each other. There were even the teams from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia. It was my 2nd time watching a dragon boat race. But my first time watching dragon boat races at  "Singapore's Biggest Water Sports Festival".

I read that there was quite an increase in the number
of female participants this year,  as compared to in 2012.

I saw one team doing their warm-ups before their race...

That determination, enthusiasm and hope within each rower
was obvious... To give their best, for themselves, for their team~

I was walking around the event ground and I 'stumbled' upon the Regatta tent. I saw that there was some sort of a 'cosplay (fashion) show" whereby some cosplayers were up on stage, strutting away, showcasing their cosplay costumes. Honestly, I have no idea what the anime characters that these cosplayers are dressing up as. But still, I took some shots. Heh~ Do you recognize any?

Although the competitive dragon boat races are over, but do check out the Bay Festival that is happening at the Waterfront Promenade @ Marina Bay on this coming weekend - 24 and 25 May 2013! There will be close to 50 teams that would be taking part in the invitation dragon boat races on 24 May (2~6pm). Sign up to try out dragon-boating or kayaking for free, on 25 May (36pm, registration starts at 2.30pm on first-come-first-served basis). There will be percussion competition and music performances by local acts like Jack & Rai, as well as Electrico. Check out the DBS Marina Regatta site for more info, just click [HERE].

Check out this vid!
A quick summary of the dragon boat event last weekend!

I found this video on Youtube (see below) and thought I would like to share it with you. I did not stay till the closing ceremony on Da 2 of the event so I did not have the chance to video this. This video shows the kite-flying display which was really beautiful. I do know of kites with LED lights, but not that that can do spirals! It was rather amusing at the 3:10min of the video. I can't help but to think that they look like tadpoles (or you know, sperms, too. Haha!). Firework display was nice, seems like a good budget was put into the firework costs, considering that it was for a race event. Good job! I do like the sparkly fireworks, that falls like gold dust. Magical sight!

(Credits to the person whom filmed and uploaded this video online).

So go on, check out the Bay Festival this weekend! Ciao!

DBS Marina Regatta 2013

Yesterday, I headed down to Waterfront Promenade @ Marina Bay for DBS Marina Regatta 2013. There were dragon boat races held yesterday (200m race), as well as the whole of today till about 5pm++ (500m race). Catch paddlers from international countries (Including our very own Singapore team!), tertiary institutions and corporate companies vying to be champions! Overall winners for each of the 8 categories bring home cash prizes!

 photo DSC03022__zps65484d45.jpg

There is also the Cosplay Festival event going on for these 2 days. I managed to capture some shots of the cosplayers... Photos in my next post. This event is at the Regatta Village, but I believe you will be able to spot the tentage area as there are many attention-catching, uniquely-dressed cosplayers around that area. ;)

Also, there is the Social Enterprise Carnival where booths are set up for social enterprises to market and sell their products. Do check them out if you will be at River Regatta today!

I will be blogging more about this event (with more pics, of cos!).
So stay tuned! :)

Salon De Choix: Hair Color and Soft Rebonding

**SPONSORED**

(I was actually 99.5% done with this blog post, and a stupid swift action of mine caused everything to be deleted, thus I had to retype this whole entry once more as Blogger.com auto saved the blog post almost immediately, that I had absolutely no effing way to recover my almost-completed draft. Zzz...)
*******

My last hair perming job was about 6 months ago at my hair salon sponsor, Salon De Choix. I liked that the perms gave me more of the sexy, 'born free and I-care-less' and "女人味"  feel. You can see how pretty my curls in the photos below! Check out my blog post of my hair perm by clicking [HERE].

Getting your hair permed comes with the after-perm responsibilities such as using hair care and styling products specially for permed hair. To be honest, it may be time-consuming for busy individuals. It was nice to have permed hair for once, but I decided to go for soft rebonding. Soft rebonding is different from the typical rebonding, as it gives a natural straight hair look... Not the super straight type which you will end up with if you choose the latter process. And to share with you guys, I have not done soft rebonding in my life before. So it was my first time! I was my first time having my hair permed few months ago too (Was also done at Salon De Choix).
.

This is how my hair looks like before my recent trip
to Salon De Choix.
 photo DSC02815__zps528ca3a7.jpg

Waves loosened up to be more natural! :)
It's nice, IMO. But I was thinking of having straighter hair.

 photo DSC02830__zps6ad963d2.jpg

But erm, this was how it looked like from the back view... :x
Yes, I have to do something about my hair.
So I leave it to the awesome Elein from Salon De Choix to help me with my hair dilemma...

And as usual, drinks and snacks for me.

. And that includes the cup noodles, if you are hungry. :p
 photo DSC02861__zps15dc0196.jpg

We started with the soft rebonding for my hair. First, by applying the soft rebonding cream. Second, let it work its magic by waiting for about 30 minutes. This is to actually break down the chemical bonds of my hair structure, resulting in having hair that is more smooth and silky. Elein, my hair stylist, then washed my hair and blow dry it, before using a hair straightener on my hair.

 photo SalonDeChoix21041304_zps9a7c0091.jpg

Elein then curled my hair inwards, which had me looking so chic!

Overnature is the latest color collection by
Loreal Professional for Sping/Summer 2013.

6 different hair color techniques in 3 categories:
Pop, Sophisticated and Cool nature.

The color techniques were inspired by nature.
Thus they are in the shapes of leaves,
as you can see in the pictures below.

I chose the Feminine Wave technique,
under the Sophisticated category.

 photo SalonDeChoix21041302_zpsc6cef225.jpg

I have only done dark red highlights before, and that was like many years ago. This time round, I was looking for a change, to have some red in my usually 'brown-only' colored hair. Elein went through a short consultation with me to understand better on what I was looking for. Eventually, I chose the Magenta Red from the Majicontrast range to be used to color the hair that has been partitioned out through the 'star' shape. I chose to use #13 under the Majilift range as my base color. I requested that the red will not be too bright so that it will still be suitable for work nonetheless.

 photo SalonDeChoix21041301_zps9f4ab9d3.jpg

Abby, did the base color for me.
And I was hoping so much that it would turned out to be
what I term it as - Honey brown color.
 photo DSC02872__zpsee73975f.jpg

 photo DSC02873__zpsd247442e.jpg

The red dye for the 'star' shape.
Honestly, I was shocked lah. I was telling Abby, pls pls make sure that my hair will not so red.
Otherwise, I really can't accept it due to work.
Elein assured me that the color will not turn out as bright as the dye, and so I felt better.
I really trusted them hor? Haha! :)
 photo DSC02875__zps88aa02b0.jpg

Are you able to see the kinda 5-corner shape that's being dyed red?
 photo SalonDeChoix21041305_zps9f1cff6b.jpg

After awhile, it was time to wash the color dye from my hair.
And may I declare my love for Salon De Choix's shampoo chairs?
They come with massage functions!
Imagine getting my hair washed and massaged,
while my body gets a massage too?
SPLENDID, I tell you! :p

Nope, it will not affect the soft rebonding effect,
if that is what you may be worried about.

I was admiring my new hair look in the mirror when I spotted that my dark eye brows did not match to my lighter hair color. So I requested for Elein to color my eyebrow, of which she did so. She also told me that dyeing of one's eyebrows, using the same color dye shade(that's used for your hair) is possible, and it is complimentary. No extra charge at all. I highly recommend that you dye your eyebrows to a lighter shade, if you are dyeing a lighter color. Otherwise, it looks weird, IMO. Ok, you may need not do so, if you have very sparse and little eyebrows. But for my case, it was totally unavoidable... a MUST-DO.

Check out my BEFORE and AFTER the eyebrow dyeing.

Thank you very very much for your patience and all of your effort.

which have me to look and feel like a million bucks!! :p

(ie. Meeting clients), all I have to do is to pin up my fringe! :p
